Scharmützelsee

Embedded in the Saarower Hügelland is the idyllic Scharmützelsee, about 60 km southeast of Berlin. It is Brandenburg's second largest lake and was lovingly christened "Märkisches Meer" by the writer Theodor Fontane. It connects the Storkow chain of lakes with the Glubigsee chain and is surrounded by the Spree River in the north and southeast.
Due to its varied leisure activities, the lake is a popular destination for both Berliners and Brandenburgers as well as their visitors - numerous wellness oases invite you to relax. For those who love natural adventures, the lake is available for boat trips and bicycle tours - or you can walk around the lake following the footsteps of Fontane, perhaps even as a stage of the 66-Lakes-Hiking Tour? Public bathing areas are of course also abundant for cooling off in summer and at the end of a long day, no one has to forego culinary delights with a view of the lake!
