The so-called marriage carousel is located in the middle of Nuremberg's old town in front of the white tower and is the name of the Hans-Sachs fountain. It was designed by Jürgen Weber and installed in 1984. Based on the poem "Das bittersüße eh'lich Leben" ("The Bittersweet Married Life") by the poet Hans Sachs, written for his wife, the work of art depicts the ups and downs of married life in six scenes - from an initially passionate love affair to minor and major marital quarrels to death. The poem in question can be read on a marble heart, as it says at one line: "She is my heart's home and yet she makes me grey and old".
