Located in the middle of Nuremberg's old town, the St. Lorenz Church impresses with its beauty. Built between 1243 and 1315, the Gothic church houses many beautiful works of art. The spacious hall choir was built in the 15th century and still impresses visitors today with the fascinating flood of light that reaches the interior through the large glass windows.
After the proclamation of the Reformation in 1524, it was decided that the pre-Reformation works of art in the church should not be removed, which is why they are still in the Lorenz Church today, for example the Engelsgruß by Veit Stoß and the Sakramentshaus by Adam Kraft.
During a bomb attack on the town during the Second World War, the church was severely damaged on its very name day, the Laurentius Day on 10th August 1943. After the end of the war, the church was painstakingly reconstructed. Since 1952 regular church services have been held here again.
