LVR-Industriemuseum - Textile Mill Cromford

The Cromford Textile Mill in Ratingen was founded in 1783 and was one of the first factories in Germany to process cotton into fabrics. The factory was not only an important employer in the region, but also a pioneer in technology and work organization. The factory owners relied on efficient organization and the latest technologies to increase production and improve quality. Workers were housed in special quarters that were part of a comprehensive concept to improve working conditions.

At the Cromford Industrial Museum, visitors can experience the history of the textile factory up close. The exhibition shows the different work areas and the technologies that were used in the factory. There is also an extensive collection of machines and tools that give insight into the production of cotton fabrics. The Cromford Textile Factory is an important monument of industrial history and a place that illustrates the importance of industry in the development of society.
