Beach vacation and maritime flair

As befits a vacation by the sea, bathing fun is of course not neglected in Cuxhaven. The beach sections in Sahlenburg, Duhnen and Döse are particularly family-friendly. The shallow access to the water makes splashing around here especially fun and carefree. Those who like it completely natural will get their money's worth at the natural beach in Berensch-Arensch.
Wonderful white sandy beaches and green coastal sections - both can be found in Cuxhaven and invite you to relax in a beach chair or on a towel under the soft sand. Here, no wishes remain unfulfilled and there is enough space for everyone who wants to plunge into the refreshing waters of the North Sea on hot days, build sand castles, go in search of shells or simply relax. A romantic harbor walk in the evening rounds off a successful vacation day. The former pier in the harbor of Cuxhaven, the Alte Liebe, now serves as a viewing platform and observation point for the arriving and departing ships.

Fun for Kids

The Fun Team of Nordseeheilbad Cuxhaven GmbH invites little adventurers and explorers to be active and creative from March to October and during the Christmas vacations. Whether beach soccer, painting, handicrafts and other exciting activities around pirates & Co. Meeting point for all children are the red T-signs, for example at the house of the spa administration in Duhnen or at the playground in Wernerwald.

Action and sports

Various sports on land and water invite you to an active vacation - whether swimming in the refreshing North Sea, surfing and kiting amidst the waves, beach volleyball, -soccer or -basketball in the soft sand, cycling along the coast and through the Cuxhaven countryside or high on horseback through forests and moors: Cuxhaven offers everyone the opportunity to pursue their passion, perfect their skills in beginner and advanced courses and try out new sports!
A network of more than 1300 kilometers of routes allows you to explore the wonderful landscapes by bike. Don't worry, at the bike rental everyone will find the right saddle, who didn't arrive with his own bike.

Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, together with the North Sea, the largest contiguous stretch of coastline under the strong influence of the tides. Whether with rubber boots in rough winds or barefoot in bright sunshine: a mudflat hike is a very special experience and is of course at the top of the to-do list on a North Sea vacation. Set off on your own or on a guided tour into the realm of lugworms and mussels, feel the soft mud under your feet and go in search of amber!

Excursion destinations

Cuxhaven and the surrounding region have some attractive destinations ready. For example, a visit to an original lighthouse as the ultimate maritime landmark should not be missing from the vacation memories, of course. The beacon in Wremen, affectionately known as "Little Prussian", is an original reconstruction of the original Weser lighthouse, which was decommissioned and demolished in 1930. It is an excellent destination for a bicycle tour and opens up a wonderful view of the Weser estuary and the open North Sea.
The suspension ferry in Osten-Hemmoor is an architectural monument of national importance and a real visitor magnet. It once served to cross the Oste River regardless of weather conditions and was put into operation in 1909. When the construction of a road bridge, which had become necessary due to the steadily growing volume of traffic, was completed in 1974, the suspension ferry became superfluous and its operation was discontinued. However, it was saved from demolition and, as one of the last eight structures of its kind in the world, is available for tourist trips from April to October.

Culinary Delights

The Old Fishing Harbor is the culinary center of Cuxhaven. From traditional seafood to stately sailor's breakfast, the city offers all kinds of culinary delights against a charming brick backdrop. A delicious fish roll is of course a must, as are other maritime snacks during a trip to the harbor.
