Sudeten German Museum

Sudeten German Museum

Part of European History

In a new museum building perched high on the banks of the River Isar, the history of what was once called the Bohemian lands is exhibited on five levels. Some 900 objects spread over more than 1,200 square metres on a site close to downtown Munich make for an exhilarating exhibition about the history and culture of the Sudeten Germans from the 12th century onwards.
The former settlement areas of the Sudeten Germans – Bohemia, Moravia and Sudeten Silesia – lie mainly in the border regions of today's Czech Republic.

The history of the Sudeten Germans is laid out in the permanent exhibition of the museum. Visitors make their way from top to bottom through five levels:
Homeland and religious faith – Economy and culture – Nationalism and nation state – Loss and expulsion – Post-war period and new beginning.
Discover the diversity of this ethnic group! The Sudeten German Museum in Munich invites you to experience the concept of “homeland” in a new way.
