Naturgarten Kaiserstuhl

The Kaiserstuhl is a small low mountain range in the south of Baden-Württemberg, about 30 km away from Freiburg im Breisgau. It is of volcanic origin and is particularly suitable as a wine-growing region due to the soil still covered with loess. Furthermore, the region is considered one of the warmest in Germany and is characterized by mild winters and warm summers.
Natural hiking and nature trails allow individual exploration of the surrounding landscapes and offer panoramic views over the Black Forest, the Vosges mountains and seemingly endless wine terraces. In addition to the Kaiserstuhl Trail, which is 21.7 km long and leads from Endingen to Ihringen, passing through the Ehrle Valley, St. Catherine's Chapel and the Vosges Pass, there are several cycle paths and a total of eight different theme trails.
Each of them is between 15 and 30 km long and can be chosen according to endurance and interests. Each of the trails has a theme and provides information about natural treasures and special features of the region. The extensive, uniformly signposted hiking system over a total of 400 km opens up many possible combinations.
Picturesque bathing lakes are ideal for cooling off on warm summer days. For a successful end to an eventful day, a visit to one of the numerous wine cooperatives is recommended. Here you can taste different grape varieties like Riesling, Burgundy and Ruländer.
