Since 1885, the bronze statue of Martin Luther has adorned Neumarkt directly at the foot of the Frauenkirche. After air raids on Dresden during the Second World War, the monument has been damaged and could only be rebuilt on the same site after extensive restoration. Against the backdrop of the destroyed Frauenkirche, it served as a memorial against war and destruction for a long time. Since its reconstruction and completion, it has become an integral part of the newly designed New Market.
