Munich Central Station is one of the busiest train stations in Germany and the largest in the Bavarian capital. It is Deutsche Bahn's third busiest long-distance station after Hamburg and Frankfurt. Among all German stations, it has the highest number of platforms, with 32 above ground and two underground, and is a terminus station (mainline).
The station is located in the city center and is easily accessible by public transport, car, cab and bicycle. Many long-distance and regional trains stop at Munich Central Station, making it an important gateway to the region. The station is also connected to Munich Airport by a direct S-Bahn line, making it a convenient option for travelers to and from Munich.
Currently, Munich Central Station is under construction. The second S-Bahn tunnel for the second main line is being planned underground, and a new ticket hall is being planned above ground. Completion is not expected before 2029.
