Schloss Marienburg

Marienburg Castle is an imposing neo-Gothic style castle located about 20 kilometers south of Hanover. The castle was commissioned by King George V of Hanover and served as the residence of the royal family. Marienburg Castle was inhabited and managed by Queen Marie and her court staff for only one year. After that, it sank into a slumber, surviving crises and wars until a sightseeing operation was established 100 years later. Today the castle is a popular destination and can be visited.

Visitors can tour the magnificent rooms of the castle and learn more about the history of the royal family. During the high season, you can explore the castle both with a guided tour (Tuesday through Friday, not on holidays) and on your own. There are also regular special exhibitions and events on the castle grounds.

In addition to the guided tours and exhibitions, the castle also offers a restaurant serving regional specialties. There is also a castle store where souvenirs and regional products can be purchased.
