Leipzig Central Station is the city's main traffic junction and, due to its architecture and shopping opportunities, is popular with both Leipzigers and visitors alike. With an area of 80,000 square metres, the station is entitled "Europe's largest terminus station".
In addition to its function as the hub of travel with 120,000 trains a day, the station is filled with life by over 140 shops, restaurants and service providers. The station's corridors also occasionally serve as a backdrop for exhibitions and concerts.
The station is particularly tranquil at Christmas time with its festive lighting and impressive decorations.
