German-French Garden

The German-French Garden in Saarbrücken was created for the German-French Garden Show in 1960 and has since become a popular destination for excursions in the region. The extensive grounds are home to several different themed gardens such as the Valley of Flowers and the Rose Garden with around 8000 roses of 120 different species. In addition, there is the garden at the Silver Maple - a terraced garden with a colourful sea of flowers - and the Ehrental, on the edge of which the cemetery of honour extends. Fallen soldiers of both sides from the German-French war (1870-1871), honorary citizens and dignitaries of Saarbrücken were buried here.
Of course, the area also has a lot to offer for its youngest visitors; in addition to the large playground, there is a cable car, a small train and a miniature golf course. If you like, you can rent a pedal boat and do your rounds on the Deutschmühlenweiher!
A variety of cafés, restaurants and bistros invite you to take a break after a long walk. Two kiosks, a snack bar and a 4-star hotel restaurant of Victor's Residenz-Hotels have a lot to offer and will satisfy every gastronomic demand.
