Central station and museum platform Oberhausen

The Oberhausen main station is an important transport hub for long-distance transport in the western Ruhr area. Both regional and long-distance trains are served on its 10 platform tracks currently in use.
The red brick main station building was built in the style of classic modernism and is central, but somewhat isolated from the city highlights. But from here you can quickly reach the city center by bus or tram.
The platform between 4 and 5 of the main station is known as the museum platform. Here you get to know the history of the station and the importance of the railway. Three-meter-high wooden sculptures greet the incoming trains. Imposing art objects and a historical train are radiated in the evening with fascinating colors. An illuminated mold and a waiting house are further highlights of the museum platform, which can be visited free of charge.
