Rhine Tower

With a total height of 240.5 metres, the Rhine Tower is the landmark of the vibrant Rhine metropolis. It is located at the entrance to the Media Harbour and borders directly on the city centre. The North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament and the building of the West German Broadcasting Corporation lie at its feet.
The public elevator takes you to the various levels at a speed of 4 m/s. At a height of 172.5 metres there is the restaurant that turns on its own axis once an hour. The bar, lounge and viewing platform below offer an overwhelming view of the city's attractions: the MedienHafen, Düsseldorf's Old Town, the Hofgarten, Königsallee and the Rhine can all be admired from here. On a clear day, the view even extends as far as the Bergisches Land and Cologne.
The 160 metre long shaft of the tower is also remarkable - the illuminated portholes form the largest decimal clock in the world.  Vertically arranged lights provide information about the time to the second - to read the clock, the clusters in the shaft must be exactly distinguished and interpreted.
