The picturesque quarter Blankenese in the western part of Hamburg is a beautiful spot and shaped by bourgeois mansions. Once a fishing and (nautic) pilot village, it also managed to preserve this charm. Right at the Elbhang – the incline on the bank of the Elbe – is the Treppenviertel with its almost 5000 stairs, small houses & winding lanes. An exploration of the Treppenviertel can be combined with a walk on the beach at the foot of the lighthouse.
