The Old Elbe Tunnel - also called St. Pauli ElbeTunnel - has been running since 1911 in almost 24m depth over 426.5m from St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken to Steinwerder. Originally built to cope with the massive growth of the port, the tunnel is since 2003 listed as a historical monument. Today it is far more than a traffic route, being used for exhibitions & events. By the way, pedestrians and bikers can use the tunnel for free and round-the-clock.
