The traditional Schauspiel Frankfurt is the largest spoken theatre in the Rhine-Main region and, as a nationally profiled stage, is also highly regarded throughout Germany. Anselm Weber's artistic direction at Schauspiel Frankfurt began with the 2017/18 season.
Thirty actresses and actors belong to the permanent ensemble and form the centre of the programme. Renowned directors such as Jan Bosse, Andreas Kriegenburg, Roger Vontobel, Johanna Wehner and David Bösch regularly stage productions at the theatre for a total of four venues - Schauspielhaus, Kammerspiele, Box and Bockenheimer Depot. Approximately 25 new productions are created each season.
As a repertoire theatre, Schauspiel Frankfurt has a daily changing range of plays, which currently comprises around 30 productions. In addition to classic productions of Shakespeare, Aeschylos and Ibsen, the programme also includes numerous world premieres and first performances. The Junge Schauspiel also offers programmes especially for children and young people.
