Weiberfastnacht on the Ship of Fools
The Ship of Fools Potsdam embarks on its 30th voyage.
This year, countless stars and starlets will light up the whitewashed planks. Princess Candy I will enchant the people. Lined by the children's prince and princess and the beaming chambermaids and adjutants of the Ship of Fools, the evening promises to be another special carnival event. Friendly carnival clubs will light one beacon after another and will be in no way inferior to the glamorous performances of the ship's own dance ballets.

The Potsdam fleet sets sail from the Long Bridge to open the steamer season. The destination of the parade is Caputh. There is also a big family festival in the port of Potsdam.
The Potsdam Fleet Parade traditionally takes place at the opening of the main season. The traditional trip will take place for the 63rd time in 2024. It starts on April 21, 2024 at 3 pm from the pier on the Long Bridge. From there, the boats will sail to the Caputher Gemünde. As every year, there will be background music from the shore.

Volkspark: Easter bonfire
The fire is lit at around 6 p.m. and visitors, neighbors and friends gather around the fire to welcome spring with music, drinks and delicious food. Younger guests can sit by the fire bowl, have the fire engines explained to them or take a photo with real firefighters from the Bornstedt Fire Brigade Association in full gear.

International kite festival
In late summer, professionals from all over the world come together again in Volkspark to present their most beautiful, fastest and most spectacular giant kites high in the sky. The kites are handmade and therefore unique. It is the biggest kite festival in the region - and certainly the most colorful family festival far and wide. There is a great program with children's theater, a giant trampoline, lots of surprises and a large meadow for flying your own kite. Hermannswerder Advent Market
Hermannswerder Island Church, Hermannswerder 22, 14473 Potsdam
One of the most beautiful Advent markets in the region can be found on the island of Hermannswerder, in the middle of Potsdam and yet far away from the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. Colorful market stalls open up in the romantic glow of light. The Hoffbauer Foundation's facilities, artisans and restaurateurs offer home-baked cookies and stollen, international Christmas specialties, creative jewelry, fine and hearty food and drink, books, handicrafts and gift ideas. The atmospheric market begins at 2 p.m. with a festive church service in the candle-lit Inselkirche. At 5.30 pm, the Christmas Oratorio will be performed in the church by the choirs of the Hermannswerder Protestant Grammar School.
