Bergbau-Technik-Park

A permanent exhibition and regular events as well as 24 display boards and a free audio tour in German and English provide entertaining information about geology and technology, but also remind of the miners and the numerous "lost places" that had to make way for lignite.
In order to create a place of lively knowledge transfer, the park has designed the theme-related things haptically-plastic and imaginative. In 2018 a unique adventure playground "Tertiary" was created in the park. The core piece is the play sculpture of a life-size and accessible prehistoric shark (carcharocles angustidens) from the Eocene. Its huge wooden body of curved rafters stretches in the sand. Various playful climbing elements invite you to explore the exterior and interior. The surroundings of the shark play sculpture are designed as a climbing forest based on tertiary flora, which playfully promote the children's coordination and motor skills, stimulate their "primeval fantasy" and at the same time convey knowledge about the origins of brown coal.
