The Hohenzollern Bridge leads directly to the central train station and is thus one of the most important junctions for the railway network in Cologne. Because of the lateral iron bars and the design of the bridge, the residents also call it "Muusfall" (mouse trap). With the many padlocks attaching to newly-in love couples, the bridge has gained additional popularity. After attaching the locks, the couples as a sign of eternal love throw the keys in the Rhine. The "Deutsche Bahn AG" as owner approves this custom due to the popularity. But because of the static and traffic safety of the bridge regularly some locks must be removed.
