Stallhof

The Stallhof was built in the Renaissance Style and is directly connected to the Dresden Residenzschloss. It once served as a venue for knight games and riding tournaments. The spectator stands were located between the columns on the "Lange Gang", which connects the Georgenbau with the Johanneum (the former stable building). After its complete destruction in the Second World War, the stable yard was reconstructed according to the original and is thus considered one of the oldest tournament arenas in the world with the original design. Now cultural events such as theatre performances and the nationally known medieval Christmas market take place here during the Advent season.
The Fürstenzug is located directly on the outside of the "Lange Gang" - it stretches over 102 metres. It is made of 25,000 Meissen porcelain tiles and therefore the largest porcelain picture in the world.
