The Lüneburg Heath Nature Park is Germany's first nature park. It stretches from Buchholz i.d. Nordheide to Soltau in the south, from Schneverdingen in the west to the borders of the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg in the east. The nature park covers 107,000 hectares and the heart of it is the 23,440-hectare Lüneburger Heide nature reserve, which is car-free except for a few access roads, and is home to the largest contiguous heath areas in Central Europe. The Lüneburg Heath has a special charm due to mystical moors, fresh smelling deciduous forests, the cool heath streams and rivers as well as the lively heath villages and offers its visitors many facets. Discover the park on a bike tour, an extensive hike or a leisurely stroll.
