Treetop path

A must for all nature and sports fans is the treetop path in the Hainich National Park. It is located about 10 km away from Bad Langensalza and is the highlight of the park. With a length of 530 metres, the path winds along 25 metres above the trees. Various information boards and climbing elements complete the path. From the 44-metre-high observation tower, visitors have an impressive view over the Hainich and the Thuringian basin. The Hainich with its beech occurrence has been a national park since 1997 and is part of the UNSECO World Natural Heritage. It extends over an area of 130 square kilometres and is the largest contiguous area of deciduous forest in Germany. From the treetop path, there are various hiking and cycling trails that invite you to explore. For further information about the National Park, it is worth visiting the National Park Centre on the Tree Crown Path. Here you can discover the secrets of the forest and its inhabitants at length. In the root cave the root growth of various plants is exhibited in a plastic and larger-than-life size. The Thiemsburg car park for hikers is located in the immediate vicinity of the treetop path. The treetop path from there can be reached on foot within 10 minutes.
