The Reeperbahn is the central street of the entertainment and red-light district of St. Pauli in Hamburg. It is about 930 metres long and is considered as the "most sinful mile in Germany". The name Reeperbahn originates from the ropemakers, the so called "Reepschlaeger", who needed a long and straight track to produce ship ropes. Numerous nightclubs and bars are located in the side streets Große Freiheit or the Hans-Albers-Platz, as well as the most famous police station of Germany which is directly located on the Reeperbahn- the Davidwache.
