Heiligendamm

Long before the founding of Germany's oldest seaside resort in 1793, the village was already enchanting with the contrast of its white beach and the dark, surrounding beech forests. Because of the white row of houses near the coast, which already catches the eye from the high seas, it also bears the nickname "White Town by the Sea". This view is also offered from the beautiful pier, which is also perfect for watching gorgeous sunsets.
The foundation of the seaside resort, which is a district of Bad Doberan, goes back to Grand Duke Friedrich Franz I.. Since then, it has been considered a fashionable summer residence and a popular destination for fine society. The oldest racecourse in Europe also bears witness to this. Horse races are still held here in summer. After destruction during the two world wars, the seaside resort is now shining in new splendor after extensive restoration work and new buildings.
