Ostseebad Boltenhagen

Boltenhagen is a recognized seaside resort on the Baltic Sea coast and as such looks back on a tradition of over 200 years of accommodating bathers. It is located on the Mecklenburg Bay between the Hanseatic cities of Wismar and Lübeck. As early as the 19th century, the village advanced from a fishing village to a respected Baltic seaside resort. Long sandy beaches, gentle hills, shady coastal forests and a charming steep coast still make Boltenhagen a popular vacation destination today. With its diverse range of experiences, from adventure playgrounds to magic courses, the seaside resort promises families in particular an unforgettable vacation.
But the beautiful nature, old seaside resort architecture along the beach promenade and the diverse surroundings offer not only bathing enthusiasts but also cycling and hiking enthusiasts, strollers and culture lovers all sorts of things.

Boltenhagen for..

Beach lovers

The clean sandy beach and the clear water invite to extended beach excursions: extensive bathing pleasure is guaranteed here. The Baltic Sea shows its gentle side here, the access to the water slopes very shallowly. Lifeguards ensure safety on the beach during the high season. Sun worshippers, water rats, builders of sand and blob castles, shell collectors and ship watchers all get their money's worth here. Comfortable beach chairs invite you to laze around and spend some time reading.
Even the dear four-legged friends do not have to stay at home. During the high season (May 15 - September 15) you will find designated beach sections where your faithful companion can frolic and plunge into the waves. The rest of the year, dogs can be taken to Boltenhagen beach without restrictions.
Those who prefer to bathe without textiles will find a quiet beach section on the nudist beach between beach access 11 and 12.

The modern yacht and fishing harbor Marina on the Tarnewitz peninsula is a popular port of call for water sports enthusiasts. A stroll along the promenade or a delicious dinner in one of the harbor restaurants is sure to stir up wanderlust at the sight of the rocking boats.
The nearby Bothmer Castle is the largest baroque castle complex in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with almost 12 hectares. Nestled in a hollow and surrounded by moats, the red brick building impresses with fascinating symmetry, a spacious courtyard of honor with a flight of steps and an enchanting extensive landscape park.
At a distance of 20 and 30 kilometers, respectively, the Hanseatic cities of Wismar and Rostock with their quaint merchants' houses and imposing brick architecture invite you to make day trips. At 50 kilometers, the state capital Schwerin is a bit further away, but also definitely worth a trip, with the beautiful Schwerin Castle on the castle island and the castle museum housed in it.
