Picturesquely embedded in the northern Black Forest, the Romans already appreciated Baden-Baden and the hot springs of the spa town. Thus, the contemplative spa town looks back on a history of almost 2,000 years. With its elegant flair and mild climate due to the high Black Forest slopes, the "summer capital of Europe" invites you to enjoy and stroll around and is appreciated by visitors as always.
More than 20 circular hiking trails invite hikers and nature lovers to take long walks and hikes. The 45 km long Baden-Baden Panorama Trail, which takes you around the city, was voted Germany's most beautiful hiking trail in 2020. On four designated stages, the route leads along attractions worth seeing, such as the Kurhaus and the Merkurberg, which offers spectacular views of the entire Rhine valley. From the valley station of the Merkurberg cable car, a leisurely ride to the top is offered by the traditional funicular. On the "Ritterplatte", at 488 meters the highest point on the route, the best distant view of the surrounding Black Forest mountains is offered.
