Rhine promenade

In addition to the Königsallee, the Rheinuferpromenade is the most popular mile for strolling and go for a walk. Completed in 1997, the promenade has brought the city of Dusseldorf "back" to the Rhine. The cars that drive underneath the Rheinuferpromenade through the Rheinufer tunnel do not disturb the beautiful and relaxing view of the Rhine. This promenade should also symbolize the enjoyment of life of Dusseldorf. Geographically, the promenade connects the well-known Dusseldorf Old Town with the modern Media Harbor.
The Rhine promenade was created by the laying down of the Rheinuferstraße in the Rheinufer tunnel. Before this happened, more than 55,000 cars drove between the Rhine and the city of Dusseldorf. This "wall" of cars felt the inhabitants as an unbridgeable obstacle. After laying down the road, Dusseldorf was able to come back on the Rhine.
