Since 1905, the New Town Hall has been the seat of the Leipzig city administration and is one of the most important German town hall buildings. Opposite the former imperial court building (today the Federal Administrative Court), it was built in the style of historicism and is characterised by its artistic interior design and stylish façade decoration. Many sculptural elements such as sculptures and reliefs represent the city and its inhabitants.
A special highlight is the climbing of the town hall tower. At a height of 114 metres, Leipzig's landmark offers an excellent view over the entire city area.
