The Stiftskirche at Schillerplatz is the main church of the Evangelische Landeskirche Württemberg. Its origins date back to the 10th or 11th century, its present appearance dates largely from the 14th century. The building was essentially supported by the citizens. When the work on the building came to a standstill in 1463 for financial reasons, Pope Pius II granted all believers who worked twelve days on the building or financially supported the project the forgiveness of their sins and the indulgence of their punishments, which would have threatened in the afterlife.
During bomb attacks during the Second World War, the sacred building was completely destroyed and had to be rebuilt. Particularly characteristic are the two completely different towers. While the tower at the western part of the aisle looks rather strong, the quadrangular south tower ends with a pointed roof.
