Schillerplatz is located in the heart of Stuttgart and was built in honour of the German writer Friedrich Schiller. As early as in the 14th century it was regarded as the historic centre of Stuttgart's old town and is lined by the Stiftskirche ("Collegiate Church"), the Prinzenbau ("Prince's Building") and last but not least by the Old Palace. The Schiller Monument is also significant.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays the Stuttgart flower market is held here. In August and December, part of the wine village and the Stuttgart Christmas market also take place in the historic ambience.
