The Imperial Theatre, Germany’s biggest stage for criminal plays, sends chills down the spine of its thrilled audience with stories from Dame Agatha Christie to Edgar Wallace.
Right at the beginning of the famous Reeperbahn, 272 cosy seats offer hospitality to a varied audience. With a twinkle in their eyes, the crew shows amusing and vintage stagings of our beloved cult-classics most of us still compare with the black-and-white movies of the 1950s and 1960s.
In addition to these in-house productions which are presented every Thursday to Saturday, various guest performances are up on the agenda as well:
The music-comedy-shows of cabaret artist Jan Christoph Scheibe, „Zuviel Sex ist gar nicht gesund“ and „Die Welt ist eine Scheibe“, are already enacted since 1998. With their impro-whodunnit „Improslam“ and „Morden im Norden“ the improvisational-theatre “Steife Brise” sparks a fireworks of creativity, joy and swiftness. On repertoire free evenings Hamburgs bloodiest stage also provides musical entertainment and attractive concerts. During September the Imperial contributes to the Reeperbahn festival, and every Monday one can enjoy the show “Buddy reloaded” with the original members of the band of “Buddy – The Musical”.
“The Imperial Theatre shows it´s amazing talent to stage classic crime.” (Szene Hamburg)
“Cracky Crime-Theatre, as gripping as it could be.” (Hamburger Abendblatt)
“Cult-Crime keeps its audience on the edge of seat.” (MOPO)
