Whether on foot or by bike - a visit to the Hoheward landscape park is always an experience. Located in the northern Ruhr area, the Hoheward landscape park, formerly the Emscherbruch landscape park, extends over an area of 220 hectares between the Emscher river and the A2 highway across Herten and Recklinghausen. The flat landscape became a man-made mountain, which was made up of unsalable bedrock.
The Hoheward stockpile forms the center of the landscape park with its 45-meter-high horizon observatory. The local recreation area, which includes the Hoppenbruch stockpile in addition to the Hoheward stockpile, extends to the Ewaldsee. The imposing dragon bridge in Recklinghausen is recommended as an access to the landscape park.
