Only a few fragments remain of the Berlin Wall - the former "ugliest piece of architecture in the world" - which cut the city in half from August 13, 1961 to November 9, 1989. The remaining border segments are situated at the Invalidenfriedhof and the Niederkirchnerstraße.
The most famous segment along the Mühlenstraße spans over 1.3 km and was painted by 118 artists.
