Little Tokyo - Japanisches Viertel

Little Tokyo is the right place for everyone who yearns for the pulsating culture of faraway Asian metropolises, because with 8000 people, Düsseldorf is home to the largest Japanese community in Germany. After London and Paris it is even the third largest Japanese community in Europe!
The concentration of Japanese institutions is highest along Immermanstrasse in the Japanese Quarter. Here, numerous restaurants and izakayas (pubs) serve original Japanese delicacies such as ramen and sushi. While these specialties are no longer unusual in our latitudes, the art of Japanese baking can also be discovered here. For a change, start your day with a melonpan ("melon bread") from the Bakery My Heart. The delicious roll made of airy dough, optionally filled with vanilla pudding or Matcha, together with a tea in the adjoining café is the ideal breakfast, and in the nearby Takagi bookstore you can choose between mangas, Japanese newspapers, magazines and other literature.
The Japanese way of life can be discovered at every corner - when business people, residents, manga lovers and gourmets meet. It is not unusual to meet cosplayers in fancy costumes who dress as their favourite manga and anime characters.
Another highlight worth seeing is the Japanese Garden in the North Park.
