Ozeaneum Stralsund

The Ozeaneum on the harbor island of Stralsund is part of the German Oceanographic Museum Foundation and, as a natural history museum, focuses on the sea. It houses a total of five permanent exhibitions and portrays the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the North Atlantic as habitats for diverse underwater creatures in several aquariums.
Among other things, the Ozeaneum houses the largest Baltic Sea exhibition in Europe. The other exhibitions present the fascinating world of whales and other sea giants in a 1:1 model, the oceans as the largest habitat on earth, and the exploration and use of the underwater world. The "Sea for Children" tour on the roof of the North Sea Aquarium offers lively insights into the animal world. There is plenty to discover in the adventure area, and those who want to let off steam afterwards can climb the lighthouse with Rusche. The dome of the tower sits on the roof of the Ozeaneum and opens up a view over the city. Right next to it is the penguin pool on the roof terrace. Ten Humboldt penguins can be seen swimming here.
Another highlight is the demo pool. Under supervision, visitors can get up close and personal with starfish, shore crabs and mussels. Commented feedings convey a lot of interesting information and give exciting insights into the underwater world.
