Top-Beaches at Rügen

Altefähr

The direct access to the water at the beach in Altefähr is very small, but it offers probably the most beautiful view in the cool water. From the beach bathers look at the skyline of the beautiful Hanseatic city of Stralsund directly across the bay.
The climbing garden in the immediate vicinity, as well as a children's playground, a water sports rental and a small gastronomic selection round off the offer and ensure a relaxing day with the family on the beach.

Lobbe

Families will feel right at home here - access to the water is very shallow and ideal for building sandcastles. Lifeguards of the DLRG supervise the beach and the surrounding gastronomy has everything ready for hungry excursionists at the end of a long day of swimming.

Schaabe

If you prefer a quieter pace, the 11 km long sandy beach between Glowe and Juliusruh is just right for you. The beach section is extremely quiet due to its naturalness and the minimal offer of beach chairs and gastronomy even in high season and invites you to long walks in front of the backdrop of the surrounding pine forests.

Prora und Mukran

The white sandy beach Prora is probably one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. 6 km long and up to 40 m wide, it invites you to extensive sunbathing and cooling off in the fresh Baltic Sea. Several sandbanks provide a long walk into the water.

Further north, surfing enthusiasts and sun worshippers will find their paradise. Shortly behind the ferry port of Mukran lies the natural beach of the same name. Due to the stony shore area, this is not particularly suitable for splashing around with the little ones. However, the 2 km walk to the harbor is worth it - here you can get freshly caught fish for refreshment after the tour.

Sassnitz

The stone beach in Sassnitz is surrounded by many boulders and is popular with hikers and excursionists, as many boat tours to the chalk cliffs are offered from here. Please note that the beach may only be entered sporadically. Nevertheless, a trip to Sassnitz is also worthwhile for families: there is so much to discover at the harbor and on the pier, and the nearby zoo invites young and old animal lovers.

Palmer Ort

The hidden Bodden beach is a real insider tip! Completely secluded and quiet, it is located on the southern tip of the island and is the purest nature experience. If you are lucky, you will be completely undisturbed here on lonely days. To be able to escape from everyday life for as long as possible, you should definitely bring food with you. Attention: Barbecuing is not allowed!
