Seebad Travemünde

Travemünde is one of the oldest seaside resorts in Germany and a district of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. It is located at the mouth of the Trave River into the Bay of Lübeck. With its maritime ambience and numerous cultural monuments, the town is extremely popular with tourists.
Strollers can enjoy two promenades: The Trave Promenade leads along the Trave River to the mouth of the river in the Baltic Sea. Smaller and larger ships can be admired here, while the walk along the promenade leads along the Baltic Sea. Between historic and modern seaside resort architecture and sandy beaches, it is easy to escape from everyday life. The Travemünde piers follow on from this and offer the best view of ships entering the harbor. Further along the coast towards the lighthouse, another must-see awaits: the four-masted barque "Passat". Built in Hamburg in 1911, the ship sailed around the world in 1938 and 1948 and is now firmly anchored in Travemünde harbor. Since then, the Passat has been inviting visitors for sightseeing, celebrations and even overnight stays.
If you still can't get enough of strolling around, or even if you have only planned a day trip, you should let yourself be tempted to lose yourself in the picturesque alleys in the historic center of Travemünde's old town. Many small cafés around the St. Lawrence Church and the old half-timbered houses on the market square invite you to linger.
