The Gutenberg Museum in Mainz was opened in 1900 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Johannes Gutenberg. It is one of the oldest printing and writing museums in the world. Several editions of the Gutenberg Bible as well as a temporary exhibition of typography and book design can be admired here. The museum is located in the old town of Mainz opposite the cathedral. After construction in 2000, the museum now has an area of 3,000 square meters.
